A recent report from Experian Automotive says that the average age of the cars on U.S. roads is now 11 years. We decided to dial back the clock to George W. Bush's first term and see which 2001 cars we'd love to see in our driveway—and which we could do without.

The Bad: PT Cruiser. I never saw the appeal of it in the first place.

Another article designed to boost the clicks or pages per visitor to the website. How nice.

While its true that the Buick Century wasn't a great car, it was a long way up from the bottom 5 available in 2001. I've never owned one (but have had 3 Buick LeSabres), but if I had to get a 2001 car, I'd take it ahead of a lot of other cars of the day.

Very interesting to see. Wonder if they did any research on reliability for the good ones.

The problem with the "good" list is that most of those cars were unobtainable to the average Joe. Yeah we'd all love to have a top of the line BMW or Audi, but come on! How about a list of great cars that most of us could afford?

Got a nice 1990 Chrysler New Yorker.
Runs well and saves on gas.
We keep up with maintenance and our mechanic at the garage says it'll run for years...

I agree with all the bad ones...

but I don't agree with most of the good ones....

I wouldn't keep the ugly viper or 7 series BMW if ya gave them to me...

I would drive neither...I'd trade one in for a 2012 CHEVY VOLT....

and the the other for an 2012 ACURA TSX-V-6...

and keep the change to buy gas for the Acura

Smart people chose the GMs with the 3800 V6, good power, great mileage.

So what?! Just buy the vehicle that best serves your needs and wants that you can afford, and forget about mileage and other stupid things! The oil companies are going to get you one way or another. Forget the "green" organizations who would preach non-drilling forever (and thus presumably wouldn't mind speaking Russian, Chinese, or Arabic in the future.)

I've still got a 2000 Buick Century - runs fine and has great gas mileage. I'm not about to ditch it.
