I think the LPGA is in its best shape ever with ten first time winners on this years tournement slate. There is a bunch of young, energetic, competitive, and engaging talent that has not been there in years past.

<yawn> The women tried hard to generate some interest, but it wasn't there for me very much. Glad they won though.

Nope, still not caring much, unfortunately. I'm afraid I have to say Michelle benefitted from some pretty good partners all weekend, but she did come through with a singles win at least.

Now she just has to do something she hasn't done in 5 years, win a tournament on her own.

Kerr had it for the taking but just couldn't make the shots she needed to. Another case of a U.S. player letting one slip through their fingers, probably because she wanted it SO much.

I don't mind so much that a South Korean won. What bothers me more is that we have to have an interpreter for the post tourney interview. Why is it that we see it on the women's tour but it never is needed on the men's tour?

Dave, if she hadn't struggled on Saturday, when there were good scoring opportunities, she may well have won the tourney.

I should probably admit that I am too tough on Michelle, but with her past history, a good deal of it is probably deserved. At least, I believe it is.

I'll wait to jump on the bandwagon when I see her become what she SHOULD be on the LPGA tour. She should be a very good asset to the tour and be a winner. Sure, she brings attention, which is never a bad thing really, and probably a good share of fans.

She still seems just too petulant for my liking. I want to see a more mature Michelle Wie, one who doesn't throw out that lower lip in a pout when things don't go her way, or throw out another excuse except the only one that matters, that she didn't perform well enough to win. She wants to be the feminine Tiger, she should take a lesson or two from him on how to be just that.

Duffer, thanks for letting me know where you're coming from on Michelle Wie.

She didn't really come very close to finishing last at the Toledo tournament, though. Michelle shot a final-round 64 to finish in a tie for 3rd, and she moved up to 12th on the money list.

It's not so much what SHE is doing I guess. It's the fact that she is drawing so much attention and media focus that she doesn't deserve. What has she ever won in the last four years? Nothing!

There are at least a dozen players on the LPGA tour right now who get no media attention but deserve it far more than Michelle does. Michelle Wie, for all her endorsements, has done squat to deserve them. that money should more deservedly go to those others who HAVE won a tourney or two.

Yes, you are right, she is doing what I and others have alway said she should do...for now. You can bet the idea of playing on the PGA tour hasn't left her head. That's where I have the problem. She considers this to be nothing more than her stepping stone to the "real" goal, playing on the men's tour.

That's not what she should be thinking. the LPGA IS the real goal. Maybe she should focus more on winning on her current level than worrying about what she will do when she gets somewhere else that she really isn't likely to get in the first place.

This disregard for Michelle Wie is closely resembles my feelings for Phil Mickelson, who I once liked, but no longer. For years Phil suffered in majors because he wouldn't adapt his playing style, no matter the numbers of people who suggested it to him. Finally, he made that change and soon thereafter won three majors. Now, he seems to be reverting to that old Phil. I say good, I hope he never wins another major the rest of his career. He has chosen to believe that his way is the only right way, no matter how many times he has been proven wrong by his actions. Then, when it is suggested to him that he DID change his tactics and won the majors because of that, he scoffs and denies it. Too bad the evidence is clear.

It's this type of attitude that Michelle Wie has in common with Phil and that I don't care for.

I just don't get it, Duffer. Why all the hostility toward Michelle Wie? She's doing exactly what you and others (correctly) have advised her to do: She's not using exemptions to play on the men's tour. She's been playing a full schedule this year on the LPGA tour (10 tournaments already) without making excuses, while taking the spring quarter off from Stanford. She's made the cut in every tournament with four top ten finishes and she's 16th on the money list.

She's an attractive 19-year old, articulate Asian-American with a terrific golf swing who draws much-needed attention to the LPGA. So why exactly does Michelle Wie still bother you so much?

The LPGA comes to town this week here in Toledo. Many of the stars will be here, including Paula Creamer and the rest of the young guns. Unfortunately, Michelle Wie will also be here with her traveling circus of fools.

I hope she finishes dead last and has a chance to invent another excuse for doing so.

Michelle Wie's season so far hasn't been outstanding, but it certainly hasn't been bad either. She's 16th on the money list with a 2nd place in one tournament and 3rd in another.

Nope, and I don't see here doing so any time soon, either. She has an incredible history of getting into position, then blowing it horribly by shooting an 80 or so. She's been doing it for years. I don't see that trend changing.

Michelle Wie continues her (not) impressive rookie(?) year on the LPGA. At least the networks have started to talk less about her. Maybe they are beginning to realize she is way over rated.

They have a real problem. None of them speak English and did you noticed they don't hit the ball too far? Actually lady bowling is more exciting. If you always bet Kim or Park will win, you'll make a fortune.

Women, and men too for that matter, should play where they can be COMPETITIVE. They don't have to play on a tour where they can win, just be competitive. When you are trying to play on a tour where simply making a cut is an achievement, that is the wrong tour to be playing on.

So long as she STAYS on the LPGA Tour and doesn't try to play in another men's tourney. Let her become successful on her own tour first before she tries something completely irrelevant like making a cut in a men's event.

These LPGA ladies have swing speeds higher than most men amateurs. To try to emulate a tour pros swing, 115-125 is beyond all but the most gifted. Watch the LPGA and develop their timing and smoothness. Take one more club than you think you need and watch your game improve.

Annika is 11 shots behind heading into Sunday. No way she even comes close to winning. She seems to have resigned herself to not winning again. She has lost all that drive and determination that made her so great. Not coincidentally, this happened as soon as she announced her retirement.

Natalie can never be compared to Anna Kournikova. Natalie has won a tournament, unlike Anna.

It would be nice to see her win again, but she doesn't need it to be considered a winner.

I was glad as well. I just wish she had played better on the weekend. Winning by six or seven shots, shooting around -23 would have been a tremendous boost to her confidence, maybe even the lift she needs to get that first major title.

Right now she is playing better than the rest of the women. If she can carry that to the end of the year she could be LPGA Player of the Year. I think she will need to win the Women's British Open though for her to have a chance at it.

She did just enough to eke out the win today. It's a good thing she had the big lead going into the weekend. She was also lucky that the greens started to firm up, preventing anyone from throwing a 62 or 63 at her down the stretch.

I'm sure her sponsor, Owens Corning, was glad to see her win their tournament.

Great to see Paula do so well, since the best thing that can happen is to see another great woman golfer since Anika is riding off into the sunset. I don't care if that course has given up some low scores in the past, she has put together 2 super rounds.

Hometown girl Stacy Lewis is in the mix also. Great to see her succeeding in Toledo.

Paula followed up the 60 with a round of 65 today for a six shot lead going into the weekend. Can she continue the onslaught and set a new LPGA scoring record? With the softness of the greens, I think she can, especially with more rain forecast for the weekend.

It might be a bit more interesting if they didn't play such tournaments as the NW Arkansas Open, like they are this week. Looking forward to next week when they play the Jamie Farr tournament in Toledo. This is one of Se Ri Pak's favoRite places. She shot the 2nd lowest round ever on the LPGA here Several years ago. She has also won it multiple times. She'll be one of the favoRites going in.

I find the LPGA a much more interesting view than the PGA. The women seem to be getting better each year. I watched two rounds of the Open and was amazed at the quality of play. Even though my favorite did not win it was an exciting weekend. Watch our for the top amateur finisher. She is great.

Apparently, no one wanted to win except In-Bee Park. She was the only player in the last nine pairings to shoot under par for the day.

Both Lewis and Creamer shot +5 for the day, a disappointing performance from each.

Annika did provide the highlight of the day, holing out from the fairway on 18 for an eagle on what could be her last stroke ever in a U.S.Open tournament. Talk about your karma.

I think the LPGA is interesting, especially without Michelle Wie anywhere in the mix. Who cares if she shoots 80?

The women on tour can play the game quite well, and with Annika announcing her retirement at the end of the year, the race for #1 is exciting. The LPGA has something that the PGA, until Tiger's injury. was sorely lacking.

Plus it doesn't hurt that many of the younger players are quite nice on the eyes.
