I have not considered this option, because there needs to be more advancements in technology to make it worth while to the consumer.

No, the hybrids cost too much; and the battery would probably die on me right after the warranty ran out.

Not yet. There needs to be more kinks fixed. For instance, the Toyota Preis doesn't do well starting out in snow. Probably needs an override shift to force ability of starting out with engine power instead of electric power. Several owners complain of getting stuck or high centered too easily with electric power.

I am buying electric!

They have new technology coming out all of the time. Now is the time to buy, then just upgrade when better comes out. You don't have to buy a whole new car, just the new technology to go faster and get more miles.

You can buy electric too!

Electric is coming fast and I believe is the only way our environment will survive! Different states do have different laws though, so if you do go electric as I am, check your local, state and federal laws. Oregon is prime time for electric right now, that's why I am buying electric. Especially since most of my all of my driving is in town anyway!

If the price was reasonable, not much more than a gasoline model. Other than for emissions reasons, why spend extra thousands to save hundreds at the pump? It has to make economic sense.

I'm definately interested, but not in gas/electric. Diesel/electric is the way to go.

Technology needs to improve. I've owned two Ford Escapes and while the hybrid may be great in-town, I drive highway and it doesn't get any better mileage than my current Escape at an $8k premium in price. Also, we run the A/C 9 months out of the year which causes the gas engine to run constantly on the hybrid.

A friend of mine recently bought one of those 2005 Ford Escape hybrids, loves it and the mileage. I am seriously considering one myself.

Looked into it last summer and nothing was available in amid size car or larger. The Prius and the Honda are too small for us!

If you just wait, something better always comes out.
First, they invent something...
Then, they improve it!

I have not considered it. If the manufacturers can built the hybrid cars where it doesn't cost so much, then I would consider buying one.

Not with current technology. Best mileage savings for hybrids is in
city driving. Most of my mileage is rural or interstate.

There is not a cost effective way to get into this market yet.
Diesels will knock hybrid vehicles sales once the cleaner fuel and better engines hit the market within the year

I'll give it a few more years to see what the true cost per mile (fuel/maintenance/depreciation) is of this alternative and yes let the R/D take care of all the little kinks :)
