SC leads gas price slide

MSNBC -- As gas prices continue to drop, South Carolina was listed as the cheapest state in the U.S. to buy gas according to Gasbuddy.com.

The site also listed Spartanburg, Columbia and Greenville as the fourth, fifth and sixth cheapest cities for gas.

According to AAA of the Carolinas, gas prices have been falling steadily since April, and, at $3.41 per gallon, are about 30 cents lower than at this time last year.

"A year ago, it was about $3.74, so it's definitely going in the right direction right now," said Linda Burch of AAA of the Carolinas.

Burch said AAA will not be releasing predictions for prices through Memorial Day until next week, but said in recent years prices continued to fall until the end of May.

Prices are all over the place from about $3.27 to $3.45. You can stand on a corner and see 4 stations with 4 different prices up to 14 cents apart. On the other hand in Martinsburg, WV, where my summer house is, all stations are the same. If one goes up 5 cents, within 8 hours they all go up 5 cents. That should be illegal. Don't know why they can get away with price fixing.

Gasoline has rose 10 to 15 cents/gallon each day in the last three days. With some gas stations going up more today. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible! The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!
